Susannah Shoun and Andrew W. Wagner

Susannah Shoun (31 January 1819-31 March 1902) was the sixteenth child born to Leonard Shoun and Barbara Virginia Slemp. Susannah married Andrew W. Wagner (25 May 1819-9 November 1902) on 8 December 1846 in Johnson County, Tennessee.

When Carl B. Neal wrote his book on the Shoun family, he concluded that Andrew was thegrandson of either David or Mathias Wagner, the two Wagners that settled on Roane Creek. Out research concludes that it was David Wgner who was his father, and Margaret "Peggy" Weitzel was his mother. His grandfather was Jacob Wagner and his great grandfather was John Wagner.

We believe that Susannah's two children were born out of wedlock, if the dates of the marriage to Andrew are correct. Another reason is that in the 1850 Johnson County census, the two girls are listed with the last name as Shown, not Wagner, although living in Andrew and Susannah home.
