Louisa Leah Shoun (2 July 1815-8 Dec 1841) married John L.N. Maddox on 25 February 1836. We do not know where the marriage took place. We know that Maddox was born in Washington County, Virginia.
Louisa died before her father, Leonard, passed away and she is mentioned in his will, with the instructions to "divide Louisa Leah (deceased) her equal share must be qually divided among her three children, except my children should raise and school those three orphan children, if so, they must have fifty dollars of it for each orphan child so raised and schooled." And "Lastly, I give and bequeath to my son-in-law, John N. Maddox, one dollar to be paid out of the proceeds of my estate."
With this last statement in Leonard's will, it appears that there was some hard feelings between John and himself.
There is a belief that there was another son born to this marriage, but it is doubtful, with the statements contained in Leonard's Will. However, we will list him, in case there is every any documentation that might be found. John and Clementine are mentioned in Carl B. Neal's book.
