Elizabeth Johnson and George W. Johnson




      Elizabeth Johnson (22 May 1792-22 June 1880) was the second born to Thomas H. Johnson, Sr., and Fanny Dickenson Scott Johnson. We believe she was born in Russell County, Virginia, but have no documentation. Her husband, George W. Johnson (c. 1788/89-1858) was a nephew of Thomas H. Johnson's, being the son of Benjamin Johnson, Thomas' brother.

      Their marriage took place in 1814 in Russell County, Virginia, and to this union were born six children, which are listed below, along with their year of birth and death, the name of their spouse(s), and year of marriage, if known:

      (2) Fanny Dickenson Johnson (16 February 1817-17 January 1886) was named after her mother, who was a famous woman, after her ordeal with the capture by savage Indians. We don't know the name of her first husband, but we do know that he left her before their first child was born. Whether he left on purpose, or was on a hunting trip and was killed is not known. The child, Charles Washington Johnson, was adopted by her parents, Elizabeth and George W. Johnson. Fanny married a second time to John Fredricks and they had one child.

      (4) Susannah Johnson (12 March 1922-7 December 1895) married Dan Ayres. Again, we don't know where the marriage took place, but it probably was Russell County, Virginia. There was one child born to this union.

      (5) Benjamin E. Johnson (14 April 1824-9 July 1891) married twice, first to Leah Robinson in Washington County, Virginia. To this union were born two children. Ben married a second time to Luala Boardwine. We believe there was one child born to this marriage.
